The Revivalists live in Philadelphia 2017

Concert Review

The Revivalists brought their signature New Orleans-bred blend of roots rock, soul, and high-energy jam band spirit to the Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party at Festival Pier in Philadelphia. From the moment they took the stage, the band locked into a groove that felt both loose and powerful, turning the riverside venue into a massive, swaying dance floor.

David Shaw’s vocals cut through the humid summer air with warmth and urgency, while the band’s horns, pedal steel, and driving rhythm section gave every song a cinematic lift. Whether in the tight hooks of “Wish I Knew You” or the wide-open builds of “Keep Going”, The Revivalists delivered the kind of set that makes festival crowds feel like they’re part of something bigger than just another show.

It was one of those performances where the band and audience fed off each other, turning Festival Pier into a shared moment of release, joy, and volume — exactly what a summer block party should be.

About The Revivalists

Formed in 2007, The Revivalists are a seven-piece rock band from New Orleans, Louisiana, known for blending roots rock, soul, blues, and alternative into a powerful live experience. Their breakthrough album Men Amongst Mountains brought them national attention with songs like “Keep Going” and “Wish I Knew You.”

Built on years of relentless touring, the band’s sound is driven by David Shaw’s emotive vocals, Zack Feinberg’s blues-soaked guitar work, Ed Williams’ pedal steel textures, and a horn section that gives their songs a distinctive, cinematic punch. On stage, The Revivalists thrive on spontaneity, groove, and a deep connection with their audience.
